Kahlil G. James

Executive Director, Another Choice Youth and Family Outreach Inc.

Rev. Kahlil G. James, a native of Harlem, New York, is a devoted family man, husband to his cherished partner Deborah Clark-James, and proud father to Anthony Copeman.

Rev. James serves as an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, bringing a deep commitment to the service of the Church and a profound passion for witnessing individuals reaching their Kingdom potential.

Answering the call to ministry at the age of 28 during the historic Million Man March on Washington, DC, Rev. James holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Business Management from Monroe College, and a Master of Divinity Degree from New York Theological Seminary.

Known for his capability as an anointed preacher and an effective teacher, Rev. James exemplifies a commitment to love, extending beyond the church walls into the community. His work revolves around connecting with the unchurched, using his gifts to transcend traditional boundaries.

In November of 2008, Bishop Richard F. Norris appointed Rev. Kahlil to Allen A.M.E Church in Newark, New Jersey, where his dedicated service over three years resulted in transformative achievements. Rev. James made significant personal and financial sacrifices to bring the church out of foreclosure, instigated the installation of new restrooms, and introduced the Children's Choir.

Appointed to New Bethel A.M.E Church (of Germantown) in Philadelphia, PA, in June 2011, by Bishop Richard F. Norris, Rev. Kahlil continued his impactful leadership. The church, under his guidance, acquired a parsonage and implemented various ministries and programs, including a Food Pantry, Prison Reentry Program, HIV/AIDS Ministry, and a Praise Dance Ministry.

In June 2014, at the First Episcopal District Annual Planning Meeting, Bishop Gregory G.M. Ingram appointed Rev. Kahlil G. James as Pastor of Allen Chapel A.M.E Church in Hartford, CT. Over five years, his leadership resulted in a Worship Renewal Grant, revitalizing Music and Liturgical Dance Ministries, and significant infrastructural enhancements, such as expanded parking and church restoration.

Rev. James instilled a positive affirmation statement, "I am the manifestation of God's Omnipotent Power," at Allen Chapel, fostering a culture of empowerment. The church actively engaged the community through initiatives distributing homemade goods, toiletries, and winter wear, showcasing the impact of Rev. James' leadership.

In June 2019, Bishop Gregory G.M. Ingram appointed Rev. Kahlil G. James as Pastor of Mt Zion A.M.E. Church in Harlem, NY, bringing his wealth of experience and passion for community engagement back to his roots.
