Our Mission
Another Choice Youth and Family Outreach (ACYFO) is dedicated to providing access to supportive services for local youth and families, especially citizens returning from incarceration. We use strategic arts engagement to disrupt violence and promote public safety in the East Harlem community. Our holistic approach includes professional development, artistic literacy courses, and a food pantry program to address food insecurity. We aim to facilitate referrals and service delivery, ensuring that community members have access to a diverse catalog of local resources.

We envision a community where every individual has the opportunity to thrive, free from the cycles of poverty and incarceration. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive environment that fosters personal and collective growth, empowering community members to become agents of change.

How we work
Research And Advocacy
We conduct community-centered research with youth and adult participants to foster informed solutions in East Harlem, offsetting poverty and incarceration. The information gathered is directly useful to impacted individuals, their communities, policymakers, academic institutions, nonprofits, and beyond.
Building Relationships
ACYFO is a safe space for community members to seek direct and referral social-psychological support. Our team includes ordained ministers and licensed social workers with lived experiences, offering mental wellness coaching, individualized mentorship, and referrals for mental health services.
Galvanizing and Mobilizing People
We form strategic collaborations to enable multidimensional advocacy and educational strategies. Since 2021, we've brought community stakeholders together for symposiums and discussions to foster and implement community-based solutions for promoting public safety and reducing poverty in our communities.
