At Another Choice Youth and Family Outreach Inc., we believe in driving social change through actionable initiatives. To this end, we are establishing the ACYFO Center for Solutions and Performance Space, a hub for artistic expression and community empowerment in East Harlem. This center will serve as a catalyst for tangible progress, addressing critical issues like poverty, mass incarceration, and the well-being of low-income communities.

Key Components of the Center

The Black Box Community Theatre 

A culturally sensitive, artist-led space designed to challenge mainstream media narratives. It will provide rental facilities for impactful projects and voices committed to dismantling stereotypes.

Target Audience

   - Children & young adults

   - Mothers & families

   - Men, Fathers, and Young Fathers

   - Returning citizens

   - Lay community members/residents/advocates

   - Faith leaders/faith-based organizations

   - Local artists, influencers, and change agents

Strategic Partnering & Community Engagement Strategy

Goals:

1. Foster public safety through community-based interventions, offering free training and capacity-building tools to address social inequalities.
2. Provide artistic literacy and capacity-building training for those involved in the justice system to reduce re-offending.
3. Offer referral and direct opportunities for young adults and families vulnerable to the carceral system, liberating them from its grasp.
4. Extend reentry resources, referral services, and social support for those returning from incarceration.
5. Strengthen relationships with local organizations and East Harlem residents to build a more connected and empowered community.
6. Establish a sustainable income stream by providing affordable theater, workshop, and conference space for local artists, advocates, and entrepreneurs.

Objectives:

1. Empower community-based artists and entrepreneurs to advocate for their communities and mobilize resources effectively.
2. Equip advocates and entrepreneurs with the tools they need for personal and professional sustainability.
3. Expand ACYFO's positive impact by providing a culturally sensitive space for arts engagement and social service programming.
4. Reduce recidivism and facilitate successful community reintegration for those returning from incarceration.
5. Position ACYFO as a vital resource through referrals and strategic partnerships.
6. Increase financial flexibility to address the immediate needs of East Harlem residents, including health and human services.
